Mar Vista singer-songwriter Didi Pop
(aka Deborah Poppink Hirshland
) is inviting the neighborhood to participate in a collaborative music video about Mar Vista in honor of Earth Month.
Hoping to inspire people with a message that communities have the power to come together to make big, positive changes in our lives, Didi Pop is sharing her local hit song "Mar Vista's Gone Green
" as a free MP3 download
Residents are invited to participate in the music video in three ways:
- Recording a video of yourself singing the song individually or with a group
- Sending photos reflecting the green themes in the song (see list of suggestions)
- Participating in live sing-along events that will be video-taped on Sunday May 2 at the Mar Vista Farmers Market (10am) and Mar Vista Park (4pm).
This is a GREAT way to get the whole family and neighborhood involved in celebrating Earth Month -- and come together for positive change! If you'd like to help in any other way (lighting, video, editing) or if you have ideas you'd like to contribute, please email Deborah Poppink Hirshland (aka Didi Pop) at firstname.lastname@example.org
DEADLINE: Please send all pics/videos by May 15th
P.O. Box 66413
Mar Vista, CA 90066
The lyrics to the song and all the details about how to submit your videos and photos are on Didi Pop's website

For some inspiration here is a musical tour of Los Angeles with an inspired rendition of Bob Marley's ONE LOVE
featuring Keb' Mo', The Agape Choir, Poncho Sanchez and more. Mark Johnson, founder of Playing for Change, has inspired a worldwide movement to connect communities through music, "The act of playing music with people of different cultures, religions, economics and politics is a powerful statement. It shows that we can find ways of working together and sharing our experiences with one another in a positive way. Music has the power to break down the walls between cultures, to raise the level of human understanding."
