CULVER CITY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will close Washington Boulevard and Washington Place between Sawtelle Boulevard and Sepulveda Boulevard intermittently from 10 P.M. Thursday, March 13 to 6 a.m. Friday, March 14.
Work involves restriping the streets to their pre-construction configuration. The streets will not be closed at the same time.
Additionally, work will take place during the above hours at the north corner of Culver Boulevard and Sawtelle Boulevard and at the bottom of the southbound San Diego Freeway (I-405) Culver Boulevard off-ramp.
Appropriate signs and detours will be posted and access will be provided to residents and emergency vehicles.
The restriping is related to the $167 million High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) project on the San Diego Freeway (I-405) in both directions from the Marina Freeway (Route 90) to the Santa Monica Freeway (I-10). The project is expected to complete summer 2009, at which time the HOV lane on southbound I-405 will be continuous from the San Fernando Valley through Orange County.
An HOV lane project on northbound I-405 from I-10 to the Ventura Freeway (U.S. 101) is currently in the environmental phase and is expected to begin construction in 2009. When that project is completed, in 2013, the HOV lane will be continuous in both directions from the San Fernando Valley through Orange County.
