Here's Another Neighborhood Elementary School: Grand View

Check out our PTA's website:

We're the only LAUSD school on the westside with a Dual Language Spanish Immersion 90/10 model program from pre-K through 5th. We have P.S. Arts, which means our kids get music and art once a week, and we have free before-school and after-school programs.

Both my sons are in the Dual Language program (one in Kinder and 1 in 4th grade), I'm the PTA president, and yes, I live in the neighborhood. Feel free to contact me with any questions about Grand View!

Hi Sarah!
I have a question. My son will turn 4 on Dec 15, so he could enter pre-K next September. Our neighborhood school is Beethoven but their pre-K program is 3 hours/day, 4 days a week, and I work almost full time. What are the hours of the pre-K program at Grandview? Is there an afterschool program for pre-K kids?

Hi Charlotte! I have to tell you Grand View's pre-K is the same. I think all the SRLDP programs are the 2 1/2 hours, 4-days a week deal. I understand Couer d'Alene school (sp?) in Venice -- also a public school -- has an after care program for their pre-k through the YMCA. I would call and check them out. I believe the pre-K is still free, but the after care may cost money. Worth a try, though, because I think you can go to any SRLDP (Pre-K) program, whether or not it's your home school.

Best wishes!

Hi Sarah, Where exactly is this school located?
Is it called Grand View Elementary?

It's called Grand View Blvd. Elementary and it's on Grand View, just about 2 blocks south of Venice Blvd.

Thanks, John, and I've attended a meeting of the education committee and hope to again.

Sarah, I hear good things about Grandview Elementary. A friend teaches there who is smart, caring, dynamic and Harvard educated! One of those people you would hand pick to teach your child. Beethoven Elementary looks great too and Daniel Webster Middle School is a fantastic find. It's so inspiring that the neighborhood families are sending their kids back to the neighborhood schools - a great movement that we all are finally waking up to! -Ann Smith
