Tier 1 water rate allotment

Posted on June 14, 2009 at 7:23am 2 Comments

You can log on to your account with the DWP to see your allotment. Our summer allotment is 28 HCF and winter is 22 HCF. We just got the bill for the last two months and our usage was 10 HCF! Doesn't that indicate that the allotments are achievable???

Yet I am astonished at how many neighbors I see still using their sprinklers mid day and on days other than Mon and Thursday. I was verbally abused when I tried to say something to someone a few blocks over who was washing down the alley next… Continue

For all of us focused on the environment, I think this is a really important movie - check it out at http://thefuelfilm.com
It is showing in LA for one week but if enough of us see it, they will give it wider distribution. I really encourage everyone to see it!

Birgitta -
wow - thanks! I have to figure out how to find it. That is very exiting as I feel like I am brailing my way through learning to garden. Thanks!
Do you have the vegetable garden in your front yard? I think we may have met...?

Is that a photo of your garden? Quite lovely! I teach putting veggies in the front garden - we need more beautiful food!

The Garden is open for visitation - every day but Monday from 10 to 5. There is a lot here for teaching in many different ways, water saving is part of it, my main talent (besides putting my foot in my mouth) is teaching food gardening - consider dropping by in the afternoon on the 13th when we will be making pesto for sale and eating pesto/pasta and other goodies. We grew the basil and garlic here - good stuff!

Hi Sherri Akers,
James Brennan of GoSolar Mar Vista recommended I contact you. I posted this question regarding installing solar panels, which I would like to do asap (I have to replace my roof--it has a leak-- and am assuming that installing solar at the same time would be a good idea):

Has anyone on this forum installed solar locally either on their residence or commercial property? We're looking to replace our (flat) roof and would like to go solar at the same time. Findsolar.com has a list of vendors but I'd like to narrow the field. Is anyone on Angie's list--and if so, have there been recommendations for local solar installers?

James mentioned that you wrote an article for the MVCC newsletter on installing solar--can I get a copy of it: please send to rlee@humnet.ucla.edu? Any recommendations you have would be most appreciated. Best, Rachel Lee
