Peach Tree Pottery and http://eyespyla.com/ announce PEACH FEST 3, the third annual FREE Art/LIVE Music/Food & Fun street fair, Sunday, June 12, 2011 from 10 am to 4 pm.
This local pottery studio and gallery, where teacher/ceramicist Linda Mechanic teaches adults and children to throw on the potter's wheel has long been a haven for Westside emerging artists to show and sell their work.
PEACH FEST 3 is open to the general public. It will showcase the work of a talented group of Young Artist's (17 years of age and younger). This year, our young artists present wall art from a wide variety of media: photography, painting, mixed media, and drawing. A panel of L.A. artists reviewed the work and picked an exemplary sampling of art to showcase.
Linda Mechanic and her students will also be selling their ceramic creations.
Boise Avenue's own "Boise to Men" will be one of six musical guests who will play LIVE on the street. Musicians Dominic Campanella (Lead Vocalist/Guitarist with The Quarter After), Simone DeBlasio, Noah Peters of The Cold Chills, Meagan Walsh and the Westside's young musical phenoms "The Ghouls" will play throughout the event in half-hour sets from 11 am to 4 pm (artists subject to change).
A silent auction will also be a part of the day's festivities, with a variety of goods and services donated by local businesses and artists featured. Proceeds from the silent auction and a portion of the sale of all young artists' work will be donated to those affected by the earthquake in Japan and recent tornadoes and flooding in the U.S. southern and midwestern states.
The New School West's students will be holding their annual Trike-A-Thon at PEACH FEST 3 this year. Trike-A-Thon donations will benefit Saint Jude's Children's Research Hospital. All are encouraged to support a rider by logging on to The New School West's website and clicking on the link under "What's New: http://www.newschoolwest.com/nsw/home.cfm
Food and "goodies" will be available from Pitfire Pizza (http://www.pitfirepizza.com/) and Schmerty's Gourmet Cookies (https://schmertys.com/store/). Additional donation opportunities will be available at the drink concession.
Bring a lawn chair, water bottle and sunscreen, peruse the wonderful art, get your bid in at the silent auction, listen to amazing music, enjoy marvelous food, cookies and brownies from two of L.A.'s primo food and gourmet cookie gurus, and spend the day at PEACH FEST 3, a "must-visit" for all fans of the arts, fine music, food and fun who want to help incredibly worthy causes.
